New SAI chairman

KARACHI, Jan 19: Imran Shaukat was elected chairman while Rauf A. Sattar and M. Asif Siddiq elected unopposed as senior vice-chairman and vice-chairman, respectively, of the Site Association of Industry for the year 2006-07.

On January 8, six new members were inducted in the executive committee on the six seats fallen vacant this year after election process. They are: S. Zafar Ahmed, Sikander Imran, Shiraz Farooki, M. Asif Siddiq, Sikander Razzak and Rauf A. Sattar.

Remaining members on the committee are: Ameen Bandukda, Ahsan Arshad Ayub, Abdul Aziz Khatri, Gul Hameed Ghanchi, Muhammad Nasir Yousuf and Imran Shaukat. These twelve industrialists belong to BMG group of Siraj Kassam Teli.

Imran Shaukat addressing the 42nd annual general body meeting said the issues that needed special focus are: Prevention of fire incidents in the industries, S.I.T.E infrastructure, power breakdowns and poor telecommunication infrastructure in the area.

He said that getting the waste disposal programme restarted, effluent treatment plant as well as early completion of water desalination plant will also be amongst’ issues requiring his highest attention.
