KARACHI: KWSB imports pipes for water, sewerage lines

KARACHI, Dec 14: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board has imported high-quality pipes from Dubai to accomplish the task of laying new water and sewerage lines in all four industrial zones of the city. This is the first time that a sum of Rs2.5 billion is being spent on laying and replacing obsolete pipelines in these zones.

The first consignment of the pipes imported at an estimatedcost of Rs100 million has reached and is being laid in the Landhi and Korangi industrial areas. Another shipment is expected soon.

This was stated by KWSB officials at a meeting held with Managing Director Brig Iftikhar Haider in the chair. The meeting reviewed the pace of water and sewerage lines laying works currently under way in the industrial areas of the city.

The meeting was told that the KWSB had to import the pipes from Dubai-based pipe manufacturing industries as local pipe factories were unable to provide such a large number of pipes.
