KARACHI: Realistic use of resources stressed

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 22: Experts at a seminar urged the hospital administrators to be proactive and make realistic use of the limited resources in the local context.

The three-day seminar on “Health administration: strategic planning and performance management” began here at Aga Khan University on Wednesday.

Dr Farhat Abbas, Medical Director and Associate Dean Clinical Affairs, AKU, said hospitals should justify their existence by taking their limited resources into account.

Dr Wasim Jafri, chairman department of medicine, said institutional vision and mission statements were the guiding forces in order to have a strategic plan.

Dr Gregory Pappas emphasised the role of hospitals in public health, saying hospital managers must work with other partners, in and outside of health if they wanted to address the health needs of the country.
