KARACHI, June 14: The city government is re-introducing the charged-parking system at 11 places in the city from July 1.The places where charged-parking is being re-introduced include North Nazimabad’s Hyderi Market parking lot, Hill Park, Zoological Garden, Safari Park, Sindbad, Faizee Rahameen Art Gallery’s compound, Glass Tower, Crystal Court, Sassi Arcade, Paradise centre and Clifton Centre.
A spokesman for the city government said parking fees at these places will be Rs10 for a car and Rs5 for a motorcycle.
He said the city government had auctioned all these parking lots for one year i e from July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007, for Rs14.5 million as against its estimated income of Rs8.154 million, thus earning Rs2.295 million more than the anticipated receipts under this head.
The charged-parking system was earlier discontinued about one-and-a-half year back by the city council through a unanimously approved resolution.
