SAI chief flays power outages

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 14: Site Association of Industry chairman Ameen Bandukda on Wednesday claimed that 25pc industries in the Site area had been without power for the last 30 hours due to unannounced load-shedding by the KESC.

In a letter to Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad, the SAI chief said that despite the assurances given by the authorities that there would be no power outages in the industrial areas the load-shedding continued round the clock.

He said that such a deplorable situation had never arisen in the industrial area before. He urged the governor to look into the situation as the largest manufacturing sector was becoming dormant. The production should not hamper further due to electricity load-shedding, he added.

He said that the closure of city markets at 8.00pm had failed to bring any results as load-shedding in residential and industrial areas continued.
