KARACHI, June 3: Five people were arrested by Mubina Town police for attempting to steal extra high-tension copper wire while three of their accomplices, happened to be policemen, escaped.

Mubina Town police received information that some people were trying to snap high tension copper wire near Madras Chowk on Suparco Road. As the police reached the spot, a mobile van of Sachal police station was already present there. The Mubina town police arrested five men, Khayal Gul, Allah Datta, Sabir Hussain, Ahmed Bukhsh, and Iqbal Hussain, for attempting to steal the wire.

As soon as they told the Mubina police that Sachal police were providing them protection, the Sachal police officials in the mobile van sped away.

However, the Mubina town police took all the five persons to the police station and lodged an FIR (110/06) against them.

The high officials were told about the matter, and after their consent, SI Mohammad Tariq, HC Mohammad Aslam and PC Riaz, were also named in the FIR for abetment.—Staff Reporter
