KARACHI, April 18: The chief of Jamaat-i-Islami, Sindh, Dr Mumtaz Ali Memon, on Tuesday accused the government of failing to protect the lives and property of citizens, adding that the rulers had no moral right to continue their rule.

He strongly condemned the continuing incidents of violence and loss of innocent lives.

He said the present administration had failed to provide the masses with either jobs or peace and security. “Such rulers have no right to occupy their chairs anymore.”

He said the government was still clueless regarding the target killing of religious and political leaders, as well as, police officers, and this was a glaring example of its inefficiency.

The JI leader said that in cases in which rulers had themselves been attacked, earth and heaven were moved to produce the culprits, but the killers of Mufti Shamzai, Aslam Mujahid, Khalid bin Walid and others religious and political leaders were yet to be unearthed.

He said the conflicting statements issued over the tragedy had, naturally, raised suspicion, anger and frustration among the masses.

He said that nothing called law and order was seen anywhere in the province.—PPI
