KARACHI: Action against AG Office employee recommended

KARACHI, April 17: Additional District and Sessions Judge, South-VII Munawwar Sultana recommended to the AG Sindh “to take appropriate action” against Abdul Rasheed Machiyara, an official of his office for bringing disrepute.

According to the order available here on Monday, the ADJ South was hearing a criminal miscellaneous application filed by Hakam Ali, owner of a local travel agency. It was alleged that the accused, including Abdul Rasheed Machiyara, official of the AG Sindh, Mohammad Hanif, Mohammad Farooq owners and builders of New Chali Trade Centre, Saqib and five others threatened him to kill, manhandled him and forced him to vacate the premises rented out to him.

The applicant prayed to the court to order the police to take strict legal action against the accused. When the matter came before the court, the investigating officer informed the court that he has recorded the statement of complainant and his witnesses.

The applicant disputed that any such statement was recorded by the IO Irshad Sadayo of Mithadar Police (Investigation).

The ADJ then ordered the IO to present the record of the case and also statement purported to be of the complainant. Later, the IO undertook to record a fresh statement of the complainant under Section 161 CrPC.

DDA South, conceding the application, also suggested that “legal action be taken against Rasheed Machiyara for misusing the name of the AG Sindh”.

The court, allowing the application, directed the IO to record the statement of the applicant afresh—APP
