KARACHI: Struggle for rights to continue: PPP

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, April 4: The Pakistan People’s Party, women wing’s information secretary, MPA Shazia Marri, has reiterated her party’s determination to continue its struggle for the people’s rights. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, she said that 27th anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s “martyrdom” came at a perilous time in Pakistan’s history when the people and the country had been again seized by a military dictatorship and robbed of civil liberties.

Former prime minister and founder of the PPP, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, believed in the inherent power of the masses and served them selflessly, sacrificing himself for the greater good refusing to compromise on their interests.

The zealous millions who thronged to commemorate the day when they lost the first directly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan, prove that history never remembers oppressors, but leaders of true stature and vision remain alive for perpetuity, she asserted.

Shazia Marri pointed out that on 4th April, PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto had assured the people that the Pakistan People’s Party would continue its struggle for the people’s rights not only till holding of free and fair elections, but until power truly lies with the people. Ms Bhutto had also informed people regarding her imminent return.

She reminded the multitude gathered that parties like Zia league and Quaid league were transient and disappeared at the first wind of trouble. The only party which remained steadfast was the Pakistan People’s Party. The PPP had weathered innumerable storms and would continue to survive proudly, with the support of the masses, for which it continued to fight.
