KARACHI: Salgia visits KMC building

KARACHI, April 2: Deepesh Salgia, a representative of the company which constructed the historic KMC building in 1931, currently visiting Pakistan in connection with the screening of the Indian movie Mughl-i-Azam, called on City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil during a study visit to the KMC Building.

He was delighted to note that the city government had started cleaning of this building which was now a historic heritage.

Salgia told Ms Jalil that Shaparji constructed many historic buildings in India. Referring to the maintenance of such buildings, Salgia gave various suggestions for maintenance and preservation of the KMC building.

He was taken round the council and committee rooms and various other sections and informed that the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah, had addressed a civic reception here on August 25, 1947.

This building has the honour of being the venue of civic receptions given in honour of over 80 heads of the world countries including Queen Elizabeth, late Shah Faisal, Yasir Arafat, Shah Hussain of Jordan, Col Moammar Qadafi and others.—APP
