KARACHI: Modern cancer treatment facility at AKU


KARACHI, April 2: The Aga Khan University Hospital has acquired the latest radiation treatment facility to offer comprehensive cancer care. This was stated by AKU Chief Radiation Oncologist Dr Farrok Karsan at a public health awareness programme ‘Sign, Symptoms and Care’ held at the AKU premises here.

Dr Karsan informed that radiation oncology was the treatment of (malignant) tumours with high energy X-rays.

Dr Zehra Fadoo, Consultant Paediatrician, gave her presentation on ‘Cancer in children a curable disease’.

Dr Fadoo said that cancer was the second highest cause of death in children between the ages of one and 14 even though childhood cancer was comparatively rare.

She emphasised upon the importance of early detection, increasing awareness and access to most basic cancer treatments which would save lives of thousands children with cancer and make medical professional’s fight with cancer as success story.—APP
