KARACHI, April 1: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal on Saturday strongly condemned a further hike in sugar price, and accused the rulers of hoodwinking the poor masses by making pledges to reducing prices of essential commodities.

MPAs Nasrullah Shaji, Hameedullah Khan and Mohammad Younus Barai, in a joint statement, said that despite such pledges, prices of sugar, pulses and other items were registering a constant increase.

“If the rulers are confident that their economic policy and planning were perfect, why don’t they bring their own money from Swiss accounts to the country? When the rulers were not doing so, how could foreign investors bring investments here?” they argued.

They said that all their tall claims of good governance had now been exposed as the government had miserably failed in providing relief to people.—PPI
