KARACHI: MMA to observe protest today

KARACHI, March 23: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal on Thursday condemned the release on bail of police personnel involved in the killings of two siblings three days back in Karachi within 24 hours, and said the provincial government was trying to protect the culprits and distorting facts.

In a statement, MMA MPAs Nasrullah Shajji, Younus Barai and Hameedullah Khan Advocate said the Sindh government was itself involved in extra judicial killings and was patronizing the police to kill anyone without committing any offence.

They said that the people of Karachi were at the mercy of terrorists, robbers and cruel police officials, but vowed that the MMA would continue its struggle for protecting the lives and properties of citizens.

They also announced that the people of Karachi would observe March 24 as protest day against lawlessness, police terrorism, the said killings of siblings and attempt on the life of former town nazim Muhammad Shahid.

They said the issue would also be raised in the National and provincial assemblies.

Meanwhile, MMA MNAs Muhammad Hussain Mehanti, Abdul Sattar Afghani and Muhammad Laiq Khan ridiculed the Prime Minister’s directives regarding probe into increased bills of Sui gas by the NAB and termed it as an effort to hoodwink people.—PPI
