KARACHI: Blast termed conspiracy to impede city’s development
KARACHI, March 3: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan said that the security of life and property of the people and the uplift of the city would not be compromised because progress of Karachi was the progress of the province and the country.
“Karachi is the economic backbone of the country and the country will develop when this city will develop”, the governor said while speaking at separate meetings with a delegation of “Sakinan-i-Shehar Quaid”, former AJK president and prime minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum and Nawab Mohammed Jehangir Khanji at the Governor’s House here on Friday.
He said that the March 2 bomb blast was an attempt to mar the government efforts for a stable economy and fast development, but the culprits would soon be brought to justice.
Dr Ibad pointed out that nowhere in the world, including the developed countries; these suicidal attacks could be stopped. However, these incidents can be controlled with stringent security measures and all out public cooperation, he added.
In this regard, he referred to an incident at Masjid Babul Ilm, where owing to the timely action taken by the law enforcing agencies, relatively less damage was caused.
However, to us the life and property of each and every citizen is dear and all possible steps are taken for their protection, he said.
Speaking about the prevailing situation with reference to the blasphemous acts against the Holy Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him), Dr Ibad pointed out that this issue was not only related to Pakistan but to the entire Muslim Ummah.
“We should not do a thing which may send a negative message and blur the image of Muslims and Islam in particular”, he said.
He referred to the representative meeting of Ulema, business community and journalists held recently at Governor’s House and said that everyone agreed for determining specific place for protest demos so that common man remained unaffected and daily wagers may continue to earn their livelihood.
The delegation of Sakinan-i-Shehar Quaid informed the governor that the traditional international mushaira would be held here on March 22 for which all arrangements had been completed.—APP
