KARACHI, Feb 3: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal on Friday took notice of some people’s failure in getting the lease agreement of their properties renewed, and directed the revenue department to serve a one-week final notice to all such defaulters.

He ordered that a notice be affixed on the facade of such properties if the final notice was also ignored by the defaulters, and legal action be initiated against the defaulting property owners.

The legal action may include forfeiture of property after cancellation of the lease and/or vacation of such a property.

According to a statement issued here on Friday, the city government has given a final chance to 43 defaulters to get their lease agreements renewed after clearing the outstanding dues in order to avoid the legal action.

It noted that despite having received several reminders, some defaulters had not got the lease of their properties renewed even after a lapse of 10-25 years.

ROAD PROJECT: The city nazim has constituted a Monitoring and Implementation Committee to ensure completion of the Korangi-8000 Road project within the stipulated time with strict quality control.

MASTER PLAN: The city nazim has directed all departments of the city government to submit the required data pertaining to the preparation of Karachi Master Plan 2020 with the EDO Master Plan Group of Offices by Monday (Feb 6).
