BD tea prices decline

CHITTAGONG, Dec 27: The prices of Bangladesh teas declined on weak demand and suffered very heavy withdrawals at a weekly auction on Tuesday, brokers said. “There was a large offering this week which met with a fair interest at the beginning but as the sale progressed demand weakened,” said an auctioneer.

Buyers from Pakistan, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Bangladesh participated in the auction.

“There was fair interest from blenders and packeteers. Loose tea buyers operated actively,” said a market report by the National Brokers Ltd, the country’s largest tea broker.—Reuters
