KARACHI, Nov 1: A number of Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) activists on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration against police torture on the students collecting relief funds for Oct 8 quake victims.

The protesting students, gathered at the Karachi Press Club, were holding placards inscribed with slogans against police. They demanded immediate removal of the police personnel involved in the incident.

Addressing protestors, IJT leaders said police restrained students from collecting relief funds for the quake victims in Shah Faisal Colony, Karachi and subjected them to torture only to make their alleged “Eidi” (extortion) campaign successful.

Meanwhile, IJT General Secretary Syed Amir Ashraf alleged that the Sindh government intended eruption of linguistic riots in the province.
