KARACHI: Token hunger strike staged

KARACHI, April 26: The All Parties Action Committee on Tuesday staged a token hunger strike against arrests of political workers, institution of false cases under terrorists act, soaring prices and increasing lawlessness in Karachi. Workers and leaders of different political parties of the committee joined the camp organized outside the Karachi Press Club at 11am. Later by 5pm, Taj Haider and Nafees Siddiqui of PPP, Maulana Abdul Karim Abid, Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui and Mr Abdul Sattar Afghani of JI, Hafiz Muhammad Taqui of JUP-N and others offered juice to the strikers to break their fast. Muhammad Aslam Ghauri, Qazi Ahmad Noorani, Yunus Barai, Raheel Iqbal, Malik Naeem Awan, Zafar Taqui Rizvi, Zaman Tanoli, and Abdul Sattar Khokhar were present at the camp.

The demands displayed through banners and placards at the camp included release of PML-N leader Javed Hashmi, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani of PPP, Afaq Ahmad Khan and Aamir Khan of Mohajir Qaumi Movement and all other political workers arrested recently in different parts of the country.

They also demanded that all cases instituted under terrorist act against political workers should be withdrawn and necessary measures should be taken to provide relief to people against soaring prices and increasing lawlessness.
