KARACHI, April 3: A five-day seminar and course on foundations of moral thought: From the Greeks to Contemporary Bioethics will be inaugurated here on Monday at the Deewan Farooq Medical Complex of the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT). The event is being organised by the Centre of Biomedical Ethics and Culture (CBEC) that was inaugurated at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) in Oct 2004, a SIUT press release said here Sunday.
Federal Minister and HEC Chairman Prof Attaur Rehman will be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the event.
The CBEC is an academic and intellectual national resource for enhancing bioethical education, research and training in the country and region.
The seminar and course to take place from April 4-9 is part of its activities.
Emphasis on the occasion would be on the historical contributions of Muslim scholars and jurists to the human chain of ethical thought.
All lectures until noon will be open to professionals and lay members of the public.
Experts from USA, Egypt and Pakistan will deliver lectures and facilitate the course.
The weeklong intensive course in the afternoons from April 5-9 will be open to registered participants. — APP
