ISLAMABAD, Nov 1: The textile ministry is considering a string of measures for increasing export of textile products to the Saarc member countries.
An official source told Dawn on Monday that the newly-appointed Minister for Textile Industry Ch. Mushtaq Ali Cheema has been given a task to work out measures for seeking greater market access for textile products in the region.
The textile minister, accompanying the prime minister who has left for Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan, would discuss possibilities for increasing textile products export to these countries.
An official announcement said that Pakistan was producing best quality of textile products in the region so it was need of the hour that regional trade should be promoted.
The textile minister in a statement said that the price of Pakistani fabrics, ready-made garments, clothes etc., was affordable by regional countries so it was not difficult for us that the volume of export could be increased.
Mr Cheema said that several trade delegations had already visited Pakistan to explore the possibility of undertaking joint ventures in textile and other fields.
