By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, May 8: The federal government has constituted a committee to formulate a national industrial policy covering all the potential sectors for foreign and local investment within two months.

The committee to be headed by secretary industries and production would comprise all the stakeholders and formulate the policy in the light of visions approved by President Gen Musharraf on textile, engineering and chemicals.

Minister for Industries and Production Liaqat Ali Jatoi on Friday told a news conference, after presiding over a meeting of all the heads of public sector corporations, that the meeting decided to prepare a training policy to produce skilled people to meet the global economic and trade challenges.

He said that Pakistan Industrial Training and Assistance Centre (PITAC) is being restructured by appointing professionals and will get degree awarding status to the students.

Mr. Jatoi said that Smeda would set up a legal cell to provide free legal assistance to the SMEs regarding resolution of their problems with government departments on various issues.
