KARACHI, April 25: A young man was killed by his father in Landhi on Sunday. Police said that Mohammad Hanif, 20, who was a heroin addict, was stabbed by his father Lal Mohammad, a labourer, after a quarrel, in their house 38-8 Sector 4-C, Landhi.

After stabbing his son Lal Mohammad fled from the house. Hanif was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre by neighbours, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

ACCIDENTS: Three people died in different road accidents in the city on Sunday. An 11-year-old boy died in a road accident in SITE, police said. They said that Basit, along with his two brothers, was on a motorcycle, when a speeding minibus knocked them down.

Basit died on the spot, while his brothers, Hafiz and Kashif, were injured in the accident, the police said. The errant driver fled from the spot, leaving the vehicle behind.

In the limits of Sachal police station, a tanker cleaner, Hayat Husain died, while two others, Sabir Husain and Munawar, were injured in a collision between two trucks at the Super Highway. The police claimed to have arrested both the drivers on the spot.

A young man died in a hit-and-run accident at the Super Highway early on Sunday morning. Police said the victim was identified as Waseem Abbas. His body was sent to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.

CRUSHED: An unknown young man was crushed to death beneath a locomotive in Landhi on Sunday. Police said that victim was crossing over the train tracks when he got hit by the train.

His body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for the post-mortem examination.

FIR: The Shahrae Faisal police registered an FIR against DSP Javed Iqbal Bhatti, SI Chaudhry Arif and five other policemen on the directives of the sessions court. The FIR pertained to kidnapping for ransom, illegal confinement and robbery.

The police party headed by DSP Javed Iqbal Bhatti had allegedly raided an apartment in Gulistan-i-Jauhar in 2002. Consequently, on the directives of the sessions court an FIR 156/2004 was registered at the Shahrae Faisal police station, late on Saturday night.
