KARACHI: Small plots in Taisar Town to be increased
KARACHI, April 25: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has directed the authorities concerned that land up to 300 meters on both sides of Northern Bypass should be kept vacant, keeping in view the future requirements and security on the highway.
He was presiding over a high-level meeting, held at the Governor's House, in which Taisar Town Housing Scheme was reviewed. The governor also directed that the plan should ensure provision of more plots to low-income groups, adding that the government was emphasising more on low-cost housing schemes to meet the housing needs of these groups.
Disagreeing with the plan, he directed the relevant authorities that the number of 400sq-yard plots be reduced and that of 80sq-yard be doubled. He called for provision of wider internal roads, besides water, sewerage and electricity facilities and a garbage-disposal plant for shiftees.
He said it should be strictly ensured that the plots be only allotted to the needy people and any commercial considerations be discouraged. He said that the flats in the plan be well-planned, keeping in view the environmental concerns.
He told the officials that model plans be prepared for guiding the people regarding construction of their houses and a proposal be examined for building houses on beautiful pattern, to avoid any haphazard construction.
The project, conceived for low-income people, in its first phase will accommodate 0.4 million people. The satellite imaging work at the scheme had been completed and the governor ordered that the project be replanned within 15 days, where after the total number of 80sq-yards plots in the scheme will rise to 15,000.
