LAHORE, March 30: The UK would continue to support Pakistan against the imposition of anti-dumping duty on its bedlinen by the European Union. This was stated by British Deputy High Commissioner Hamish St. Clair Daniel at a meeting with Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Anjum Nisar here on Tuesday.

The diplomat said the UK had continuously been supporting Pakistan in its efforts to curb terrorism. "Efforts are also being made to increase bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries," he added.

He said several British companies involved in education and training, printing, packaging, textile and designing sectors were keenly interested in shifting their business to Pakistan.

A delegation of the British textile machinery sector is scheduled to visit Pakistan and hold catalogue exhibitions and seminars in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad in September.

The diplomat was hopeful that the investment conference scheduled to be held in the UK in four weeks would help enhance flow of investment into Pakistan. He agreed with a suggestion that Pakistan was a victim of negative propaganda in the western media. He also appreciated the recent revival of peace talks between India and Pakistan and the improvement in the bilateral business environment.
