Securities capitalization in CDS

Published June 13, 2003

KARACHI, June 12: The market capitalization of securities in the Central Depository System (CDS) has now crossed Rs250 billion mark, CDC announced here on Thursday.

Having over 7.5 billion securities in its custody, CDC has made it possible to achieve extremely high volume of settlement in the wake of the booming Pakistani capital market, CDC claimed.

The number of securities in Investor Account Services (IAS) alone has gone up to nearly 2 billion, which represents a market capitalization of over Rs60 billion in more than 8,600 Investor Accounts.

The Central Depository Company claimed that it has worked in accordance with its vision to support the Pakistani Capital Market and bring it at par with the rest of the developed markets in the world.—APP
