KARACHI, April 18: Participants of a rally against the occupation of Iraq demanded an immediate withdrawal of all the foreign forces from that country and called for the restoration of Iraqi people’s right to have a government of their own choice.
The demonstration, called “Liberation of sacred land of Iraq rally” was organized jointly by the Jafria Alliance and Imamia Students Organization on Friday. The protesters assembled at Numaish Chowrangi and marched towards Empress Market where they were addressed by several leaders of the two organizations.
They also urged Pakistan government to play its due role in ensuring protection to the mosques, shrines and other holy places in Iraq as they are important and sacred to all the Muslims around the world.
The rally adopted several resolutions. One of them called on the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) to take practical and effective measures to foil the nefarious designs of the United States and its allies. Another resolution appealed to the Muslim states to boycott the US-made products and Jewish companies. Endorsing the resolutions, the protesters burnt US and Israeli flags and raised slogans against the US invasion and occupation of Iraq.
The speakers expressed full support to the Islamic movements, including Jihad-i-Islami.
Mirza Yusuf Hussain, addressing the rally, said that it was time for the Ummah to forge unity in its ranks and strike jointly at the infidels under the leadership of Ali Khamenai.
Hafiz Muhammad Taqi said that no Muslim would hesitate in laying down his life for the protection of Islamic holy places.
