KARACHI, April 13: Ninety-six vehicles — 37 cars and 59 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city in the past one week, the police said.

According to figures provided by the Central Police Office, 16 cars were hijacked and 21 others stolen in the past week, April 7-13.

Most of the cars were stolen/ hijacked in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Ferozabad, Kharadar, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Artillery Maidan, Defence, Nazimabad and Samnadbad police limits.

Sixteen motorcycles were hijacked. Forty-three other were stolen.

Most of the motorcycles were stolen/hijacked in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Saeedabad, Baldia, Garden, Mithadar, Sachal, Gulzar-i-Hijri, Saddar, SITE, Defence, Aziz Bhatti, Korangi Industrial Area, North Nazimabad and Nazimabad.

The police also claimed to have recovered 52 vehicles — 29 cars and 23 motorcycles — in the past week.
