KARACHI: Rs146.556m earmarked for abandoned schemes
KARACHI, April 2: The Sindh government has earmarked an amount of Rs146.556 million for the Annual Development Programme 2002-2003 to execute 491 abandoned schemes in the province, according to a briefing given by the department of planning and development Sindh, here on Wednesday.
Minister for planning and development, Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bokhari, presided over the meeting.
The minister was told that Rs19.493 million for 31 abandoned schemes in Karachi, Rs6.184 million for such 30 schemes in Hyderabad, Rs7.415 million for 21 in Dadu, Rs4.998 million for 21 in Thatta, Rs15.379 million for 49 in Badin, Rs13.374 for 59 in Mirpur Khas, Rs6.240 million for 18 in Sanghar, Rs3.129 for two in Mithi and Thar, Rs5.794 million for eight in Sukkur, RS11.210 million for 51 in Nawabshah, Rs0497 for one in Ghotki, Rs11.210 million for 36 in Larkana, Rs7.975 million for 10 schemes in Shikarpur and Rs18.950 million for 109 schemes in Jacobabad had been allocated.
The minister stated that big projects in Sindh under the current ADP would be completed on time.
These projects include road sector development programme in the province, establishment of IT University in Karachi and IT centres in other cities of the province, projects for provision of electricity to villages by WAPDA, expansion of industrial estates in Karachi and Hyderabad, crash programme for training of nurses, up-gradation of districts’ hospitals, provision of equipment in Sindh Institutes of Urology and Transplantation, improvement scheme of the Hino roundabout and from the Hino Chorangi to the Korangi Crossing, construction of roads in Thar, preparation of the feasibility study report of the coastal highway from Ghaghar Gate to Keti Bunder, and from there to Ali Bunder.
