KARACHI, Jan 21: Five ships carrying containers, chemicals and sugar for Afghanistan are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves slow for the second day in a row owing to delayed arrivals. As a result, three ships, Trade Selene Kota Waruna to unload and load containers and Dolvi to offload oil were berthed after the departure of as many.

The ships, which sailed out included Izumo, Sima Bahar and Emerald Sky, while Trade Selene, Dolvi, Golden Bay and Bunga Mastiga are due to sail out on Wednesday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side thanks to larger handling of liquid tonnage. The total rose to 93,527 tons comprising 17,095 tons of export cargo and 76,432 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: Meros Kirinda, with 2,407 tons of sugar for Afghanistan, Uni Tank, to load 16,000 tons of molasses, NCC Najd, with chemicals, Kota Teguh and Hyundai Advance, with containers.
