PESHAWAR: PPP workers’ convention on Jan 5

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Dec 24: The NWFP chapter of the Pakistan People’s Party has decided to organize a workers’ convention here on Jan 5, which will be followed by a series of conventions in other districts.

Speaking to provincial office-bearers here on Tuesday, Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti said that a schedule for the conventions would be announced soon.

He thanked PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto for allotting party ticket to Syed Qamar Abbas for senate elections in recognition of his services to the party.

The meeting demanded of Gen Pervez Musharraf to seek a vote of confidence from parliament. The meeting criticized the federal government for “depriving the majority party, PPP, from establishing its government in Sindh”. The meeting also flayed the rulers for creating a dissident group in the PPP.

The meeting demanded of the rulers to remove all those leaders and ministers against whom cases were pending in various accountability courts. The PPP leaders also called for early release of Asif Ali Zardari, Jehangir Badr and other PPP leaders.

The meeting was attended by Syed Qamar Abbas, Najamuddin Khan, Syed Ayub Shah, Khwaja Yawar Naseer, Ghani Gul Mehsood, Zahir Shah Toroo, Shamsher Ali, Jamal Khattak, Mohim Khan, Mian Mukarram Shah, Khan Bahadar Khan, Azizullah Jan, Umar Faooq Hoti, Liaquat Shabab, Dr Mushtaq Hashtnagri and Abdul Kabir Khalil Gariala.
