PESHAWAR, Oct 19: The Jamaat-i-Islami on Saturday organized a one-day training workshop for the MNAs and MPAs-elect here at Al-Markaz-i-Islami.
The workshop was organized to brief the parliamentarians-elect about the rules of business of the provincial and national assemblies. Copies of the rules of business were also distributed among the elected parliamentarians.
Senior vice president of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and chief of Jamaat-i-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmad also attended the workshop. The electronic and print media were not allowed to cover the workshop.
Majority of the MPAs-elect on MMA tickets are new faces and have no experience and knowledge about the parliamentary proceedings, rules of business and code of conduct.
Earlier, speaking to the parliamentarians-elect the JI chief pledged that the new government would protect the rights of Frontier province and would ensure the payment of net hydel profit from Wapda, a participant of the workshop quoted Qazi.
He said that the MMA would not compromise on provincial rights and would persuade Wapda to pay the net hydel profit of the province.
He said that the money, recovered in the head of net hydel profit would be spent on social sector to remove the deprivation of the people of the NWFP.
He said that the new government would adopt austerity measures to minimize non-developmental expenditures.
