LAHORE, Oct 11: Federal Minister for Commerce, Industries and Production, Abdul Razak Dawood has said that annual exports of the country could be enhanced manifold and a competitive edge could be gained in the world market through introducing better policies.

He was addressing participants at the 82nd Advance Course of Management at NIPA here on Friday.

The minister hoped that the present export target would be achieved during the current financial year, and highlighted the significant aspects of the trade policy 2002-2003, describing the main features of the economy.

He said that for the first time the government had given priority to greater market access, observing that the Free Trade Agreement with Sri Lanka is expected to be signed soon. The government would also make Free Trade Agreements with Kenya and Morocco, he added.

Razak Dawood answered various questions put by participants relating to the performance of the present (army) government with regard to foreign trade and related matters.—APP
