Karachi Port operations

KARACHI, Aug 27: Two ships carrying general cargo and containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.

Owing to delayed arrivals, the berthing activity at the wharves was modest as three ships, Conti Valencia, Kota Wijaya, and Pacific Bridge to unload containers and general cargo, respectively, were berthed after the sailing of two.

The departing ships included Parvat and Warbah, while Pacific Bridge, Silver Bin, Mar Challenger, Conti Valencia and Trade Selence are due to sail out on Wednesday.

Berth occupancy at the wharves fell to 33 and 35 per cent both at the oil piers and dry wharves as the number of calling ships fell because of high tides on the open seas.

A total tonnage of 77,597 tons comprising 15,466 tons of export cargo and 62,131 tons of import cargo including 36,777 tons of oil was handled.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: Sargodha, with general cargo and Sima Kija, with containers.
