KARACHI, Aug 8: Two ships carrying high speed diesel and containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was modest where three ships, Jamila, Al-Ihsaa and Bunga Mastiga were berthed to unload and load containers.

Sailing on the other hand was active as seven ships departed after loading containers and general commodities. They are: Beauty River, Jaquline, APL Portugal, Kota Waris, Jamila, Johar and Ascot.

An identical number including Al-Ihsaa, Jamila, Bunga Mastiga, Swat, PONL Malandi, Sajinda and Zografia are due to sail out on Friday.

Berth occupancy on the dry wharves was maintained on the higher side at 65 per cent while it was nil on the oil piers as no tanker sailed into the port.

Cargo handling activity at wharves relatively slow owing to delay in the arrivals of foreign vessels, falling to 49,489 tons comprising 12,666 tons of export cargo and 36,823 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Friday: Warbah, with 56,000 tons of high speed diesel and PONL Malandi, with containers.
