KARACHI, July 25: Berthing activity at the Karachi port on Thursday was maintained on the higher side as the KPT high-ups made arrangements to clear the inward rush of foreign flag vessels including those whose arrivals were delayed.
Ten ships were berthed, which included Saf Marine Athi, APL Costa Rica, Orient Bright, Kota Wajar, Swat, Al-Mariyah to unload and load containers, Sovgavan, to unload and load general cargo, Green Glary, for bunkering, Good Hope to offload crude oil, and Monte Luna to unload soyabean oil.
Sailing was also active as nine ships departed. They are: Kota Intan, Med Tai Chung, Winco Feeder, APL Costa Rice, Saf Marine Athi, Pan Bright, Green Glory, Melis and Al-Maqwa.
Five other ships including Kota Teraju, Al-Mariyah, Swat, Monte Luna and Good Hope are due to sail out on Friday.
According to KPT sources two ships carrying general cargo and containers are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday.
Cargo handling activity at the wharves was active where a total tonnage of 83,944 tons comprising 13,047 tons of export cargo and 78,897 tons of import tonnage was handled.
The following ships are due on Friday: Liang Shan with general cargo and Jamila, with containers.
KARACHI, July 25: Two ships scheduled to load and offload containers were allotted berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Thursday.
Five ships, Centaurus, Msc Corinna, City of Eden Burg, Emerald Star and China Hope were busy in loading/discharging wheat, crude oil, containers and coal.
A cargo volume of 19,054 tons comprising 4,925 tons of import and 14,129 tons of export cargo, in addition to 1,242 containers (Teus), was handled.

Two ships, Nats Emperor and Emerald Star sailed while Msc Corinna and City of Eden Burg were due to leave.
Warbah carrying diesel oil was at the outer anchorage and Chem Star Eagle was expected to take berth at Marginal Wharf on Thursday.
