Aptma for modification in DTRE rules

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 19: All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) has called for suitable modification in duty and tax remission export (DTRE) rules so that the exporters could avail the scheme without any hassle.

This was the unanimous view of the Central Managing Committee of Aptma that met under the chairmanship of Nadeem Maqbool, to discuss the implications of 2002-03 budget on the textile industry and its exports.

The members noted with concern that a number of anomalies in the budget have made several raw materials and basic inputs used by the textile industry more costlier than their related finished products.

Aptma would soon submit its representation on these anomalies to the anomaly committee for necessary ratification.

Members also expressed concern that no decision was taken in the budget for addressing timely payment of sales tax refunds, amounting to millions of rupees. Textile exports would continue to suffer unless timely payment of refunds was not implemented.
