KARACHI, May 20: Chairman Pakistan Bedwear Exporters Association (PBEA) Shabir Ahmed has urged the Sindh government to charge token penalties for regularizing excess construction area in exporting industrial establishment.
In a statement issued on Monday, the PBEA chief said the Sindh government’s scheme of regularizing the excess built-up area of buildings is a welcome step but the penalty being demanded is exorbitant and no export house in a position to pay the same.
He said the Sindh government should appreciate the difficulties that exporters have to face in view of Sept 11 event and also due to massive amount of liquidity stuck up with the Sales Tax Department on account of refunds.
Shabir suggested that Sindh government may regularize excess constructed area in exporting factories against flat token penalty of Rs25,000 per case and also extend the last date for submission of applications in this regard to July 3, 2002.
