KARACHI, March 1: Seven ships carrying crude oil and containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.
Ship movements at the wharves remained active as a dozen ships were berthed or sailed out, the berth occupancy rate being 100 per cent at the Bulk Oil Piers (BOPs) and 38 per cent on the dry wharves.
Six ships, which were berthed included MSC Serena, Safe Marine Wami, Bunga Bidara to offload and load containers, Maersk Pride to offload high speed diesel, Mina to unload chemicals, and Shirvan to offload crude oil.
Half a dozen ships including Global Power, Rosa-M, Trade Fast, Bunga Bidara, Leixoes and Bolan departed, while Shirvan, Maersk Pride and Liang Shan are due to sail out on Saturday.
Owing to larger handling of the liquid cargo, the total tonnage handled rose to 0.105 million tons comprising 16,515 tons of export cargo including 1,568 tons of rice and 88,528 tons of oils and chemicals.
The following ships are due on Saturday: Golden Gate, with crude oil, Japi to load molasses, Star Light River, Bunga Masatu, Sagar and Hyundai Stride, with containers, and Lamphun Naree to load molasses.
