Draft insurance rules notified

ISLAMABAD, Feb 12: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan has notified the draft insurance rules 2002 under the insurance ordinance 2000 for soliciting views and comments of the public and insurance industry.

The SECP said that the notification through the official gazette to be published by the Printing Corporation of Pakistan is being made to solicit public opinion in respect of these draft rules and the timeframe for the receipt of any suggestion within 30 days after publication in the official gazette.

Any objection or suggestion which are received in respect of the draft rules before the expiry of the said period will be considered by the SECP before final promulgation of the said rules.

The enforcement of the insurance rules 2002 is required to be made in order to carry out the purposes of the new insurance law, i.e. Insurance Ordinance 2000. The draft rules are also available at the SECP website; www.secp.gov.pk
