Conductor dies, 10 hurt in accidents

OKARA, Feb 10: A bus conductor was killed while 10 passengers sustained injuries in two different road accident on Sunday.

Reports reaching here revealed a bus was on its way to Okara from Kohla when it overturned while trying to save a cyclist near Satgrah Chowk, Okara-Faisalabad Road, some 3km from here.

Conductor Sanaullah Sial of Kohla died on the spot. Those who received injuries were identified as Muhammad Iqbal, Mazhar, Waryam, Tassaduq Husain, Perveen and five-year-old Wazir Ali. They were taken to the Divisional Headquarters Hospital in precarious condition.

The driver managed to escape.

Meanwhile, a wagon rammed into a roadside tree reportedly due to driver’s loss of control near Gojra, Noor Shah Road.

Four, including Manzooran bibi and Firdous bibi, received injuries. The two women were taken to Lahore in critical condition while the other two were admitted to the local Divisional Headquarters Hospital.

SHOT DEAD: A landlord was shot dead by dacoits on resistance at his farm house on Saturday night.

Muhammad Bashir of Naroonan village was asleep at home when some dacoits stormed in. Resisted by Bashir, the dacoits resorted to firing. They fled leaving Bashir dead.
