LSE begins futures trading today

By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, Jan 31: The Lahore Stock Exchange will start futures trading under the newly-devised rules and regulations from Friday , an LSE spokesman told Dawn here on Thursday.

“The new rules and regulations governing the futures market of the LSE have been approved and the procedures formulated. Members, too, have been briefed about the new rules,” LSE managing director Samir Ahmed said.

In response to another query, Samir said the LSE had designed a new index that would be back tested in the next couple of weeks before replacing the current index (LSE-101) with it.

He said the exchange proposed to introduce a “whole series” of indices, starting with one or two. He added the new indices would be designed keeping in view the investors’ point of view.
