KARACHI, Dec 21: Five ships carrying containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.

Meanwhile, ship movements on the wharves remained on the higher side as overall berth occupancy stood at 46 per cent after nine ships sailed into and departed.

Five ships, which were berthed included Kota Bakti, to unload and load containers, Iran Yamin and Delmas Propten to offload and load general cargo, Golden Gate to unload crude oil and Isola Turchase to load molasses.

Four ships departed, which included Global Pride, Al-Manakh, Euro Bulker-11 and Lejin, while Orient Aishwarya, and Golden Gate are due to sail out on Saturday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was modest where a total tonnage of 51,041 tons comprising 7,546 tons of export cargo including 974 tons of rice and 43,495 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Sinar Riau, Bunga Mastiga, Med Tai Chung, Jamila and PONL Everest, all with containers.
