PESHAWAR, Oct 20: United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) teams have identified the arrival of 260 displaced Afghan families at Jalozai makeshift camp near Peshawar.
A press release issued here on Saturday said that the Commission had fielded nine teams which confirmed the arrivals of 260 new families - some 2,300 individuals- who occupied a corner at Jalozai makeshift camp, who were living in deplorable condition. Some families who took shelter with relatives came from Kabul and Jalalabad are Pashtun.
The UNHCR has fielded nine teams to identify fresh arrivals and evaluate their requirements.
Many of the families are headed by women - either husbands stayed behind in Afghanistan or they are widows. The families told the team members that they paid Rs3,000 to get to Pakistan.
