PESHAWAR: Muslim world urged to support Taliban

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, OCt 20: The women wing of Jamaat-i-Islami, Peshawar, here on Saturday asked former Mujahideen commanders of Afghanistan to join hands with the Taliban in order to defeat allied forces.

Addressing a public meeting at the Khyber Park, Hayatabad, Begum Qazi Hussain Ahmad condemned continuous air attack on Afghanistan, saying it amounted to aggression and brutality.

The meeting was also addressed by Dr Nargis, Mrs Ameen, Shazia Jamil, Shaheen Ghayur, Naseem Jan and Razia Aziz.

The speakers held out a warning that the gallant Afghans would never accept any puppet regime in their country, including that of former monarch Zahir Shah.

They urged former Mujahideen commanders, including Gulbadin Hekmatyar, Prof Rabbani, Abdur Rab Rasool Sayyaf and others to come forward and help the Afghan nation in this hour of trial. They also asked the Muslim world to frustrate nefarious designs of the US and support the Taliban. They added that, if the Pakistani government continued to support the US against the Afghan regime, then even women of Pakistan would come out on the streets to protest.

After the meeting ended, a procession was taken out from the Khyber Park, which terminated near the Hayatabad police station.
