MANSEHRA, Dec 6: Two persons were killed when a mini-truck carrying poultry to Gilgit plunged into the Indus River in Pattan area of Kohistan district on Thursday.

Police said that the victims identified as Mohammad Khursheed and Saddaqat Ali, residents of Mansehra, were killed when their vehicle fell into the river near Sarmad in Pattan area.

The local people and police reached the spot soon after the incident and retrieved the bodies of the victim from the river. The bodies were later sent to Mansehra.

Meanwhile, a constable was killed when a police van skidded off the road and fell into a deep ravine in Battagram on Thursday.

Police said that Mohammad Sarfaraz was going to Kohistan from Battagram for some necessary work when he lost control over the wheel at a sharp turn and the vehicle fell into the ravine. He was killed instantly.

The body was later handed over to the family after the funeral prayers at police lines in Kohistan.
