Every conspiracy against Pakistan will be thwarted: Malik

KARACHI: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that that each and every conspiracy by anti-state elements would be thwarted, DawnNews reported.

Commenting on the situation in Karachi, where so far 25 people have lost their lives in the past 48 hours, Malik said Sunnis and Shias were not involved in sectarian attacks on one another.

In a telephonic conversation with Sindh chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Malik discussed the law and order situation of the metropolis.

Malik said that there would be an increase in patrolling and intelligence in sensitive areas of the city. He also stressed that the federal government is making every possible effort to assist the provincial government in dealing with the situation in Karachi.

Meanwhile, IG Sindh Fayyaz Laghari has said that station house officers (SHO) will be taken to task in areas where the pillion riding ban is being violated.

He further said that targeted operations are being carried out to nab terrorists and efforts are also made to increase coordination with intelligence agencies in this regard.

It must be noted that Sindh chief minister has suspended SP Central and SHO Mithader for failing to maintain law and order. DIG South was issued a show cause notice while DIG Traffic has been asked to clarify his position.
