QUETTA, Nov 5: The Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) has refused to extend support to Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, nominated by PML-Q for premiership.

Jamali dashed into Dera Bugti in a special plane on Tuesday with Shaikh Rasheed Ahmed, MNA-elect, on Tuesday to meet Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and muster his backing in this connection.

During his stay in Dera Bugti, he discussed matters relating to the formation of governments both at federal and Balochistan levels with the JWP chief and requested him for his party’s support to PML-Q in the election for the top slots.

According to the JWP sources, Bugti told him that his party was part of the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) and would follow its decision in connection with the formation of government in Islamabad.

“JWP is part of the ARD and as its component we will support its decision,” Bugti said, adding that Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal had nominated Maulana Fazlur Rehman for the prime ministership and the ARD had announced its support to him.

Later, talking to newsmen, he said Zafarullah Jamali requested him for the JWP support in the formation of a coalition government in Islamabad. He said he also sought JWP support for Jam Yousaf in the province.

Bugti said he informed PML-Q leaders about his party’s decision.

“No party or group is in a position in Balochistan to form government without JWP support,” Bugti said. He said Jam Yousaf himself travelled to Dera Bugti for seeking the JWP support. He was also having telephonic contact everyday while Jamali also sought support for Jam Saheb, he said, adding that no other expected candidate for the chief ministership of Balochistan had, so far, connected him. However, he clarified that the JWP had not yet taken any decision as to whom it would support in the province.

JAMALI: After meeting Bugti, Jamali, talking to reports, claimed that the PML-Q enjoyed majority in the National Assembly and would form the government at federal level.

Replying to a question about his meeting with the JWP chief, he said it was “good” and as for Nawab Bugti’s stand was concerned it was justified as his party was part of the ARD.
