KARACHI: Ombudsman helps KBCA men get dues

KARACHI, Oct 25: The Provincial Ombudsman (Mohtasib), Justice (r) Haziq-ul-Khairi, distributed cheques among six retired employees of Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) on account of profit/mark-up/interest on their contributory provident fund, a press release said on Friday.

The retired employees had complained to the Ombudsman that their due amount had been withheld for the period they had served in KDA before being transferred to the KBCA.

After several hearings of the case, the KDA wing of City Government was directed by the Ombudsman to disburse the amounts to the complainants as per the Dec 11, 2001 decision of the finance department.

The total amount of the six cheques was Rs735,805.28. The cheques were handed over to the complainants on Tuesday.

The deputy controller of KBCA has assured the Ombudsman that 43 other such cases would be settled as and when taken up by the aggrieved after completion of necessary formalities.—PPI
