PFF approves eight cities and 13 venues for sixth PPFL

LAHORE, July 3 Karachi's Shadab Football Ground will make its debut as a new domestic football venue as Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) makes preparations for holding the sixth edition of the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) to be held from July 25 to December 23.

Situated in Block 11 of Federal B. Area, the ground happens to be one of the 13 venues in the eight cities approved for the 152-day, 182-match PFF competition.

It will host 10 matches, six home matches of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and four of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP). Both these teams have also chosen Sharafi Goth's Korangi Baloch Stadium in Landhi Town for the holding of their remaining home matches.

Lyari Towns Peoples Sports Complex, situated on Mauripur Road near the Wazir Mansion Railway Station, will provide a home environment to Karachi Port Trust (KPT), who finished fourth in last edition, Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) and Habib Bank Limited (HBL).

Holders Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) and first-timers Pak Elektron Limited (PEL) will represent Lahore. Pakistan Railways Sports Board (PRSB) will arrange matches their matches at Garhi Shahu's Railway Stadium which has the honour of hosting the first ever SAFF championship 16 years ago. PEL picked the Model Town Football Academy Ground as their home territory on the advice of their coach Asghar Khan Anjum.

PMC Club Athletico Faisalabad has picked the University of Agriculture Ground in Faisalabad for their 13 home games while Nushki Stadium will be the home of the current PFF League Champion Baloch Club. Nushki will make their debut, replacing one of the two relegated teams -- Pakistan Television (PTV) and Pakistan Steel.

Pakistan Air Force (PAF) will organise eight of their 13 home matches at the PAF Complex in Islamabad, with the remaining five to be played at Peshawars PAF Complex, near Qayyum Stadium.

The capital of Pakistan will also be the home territory for Pakistan Navy. The seamen will try taking home advantage at their Naval Head Quarter Complex ground.

Meanwhile, twin city Rawalpindi will be home to Army and Khan Research Laboratories (KRL). Army will be playing their home matches at the Army Sports Complex soccer field near Saddar while KRL's stadium is situated opposite the Benazir Bhutto International Airport.

Afghan Football Club has picked Govt. High School Ground, Taj Road for their matches. As usual, a jam-packed crowd is expected to fill the school's terraces to back Afghans during their 13 home matches.
