Quetta board announces matric results

QUETTA, June 20: The Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Quetta, announced the results of Secondary School Certificate (Matric) Annual Examination 2002, on Thursday.

Boys from Cadet College Mastung clinched the top three positions. Ibad-ur-Rehman Roll No 53912 got first position with 719 marks; Mohammad Haider Roll No 53945 remained second scoring 716 marks; Irwan Ali Roll No 53933 was third with 714 marks.

Among the girls science group, Alveena Rehman Shah Roll No 60064 of St. Joseph’s Convent High School obtained first position in the province with 708 marks; second position went to Mutahira Ikram Roll No 60077 of the same school with 706 marks; and Farhat Nazir Roll No. 59029 was third 704 marks.

In the humanities groups Abida Parveen Roll No. 61489 of Girls Model School Mission Road stood first with 620 marks; second position was obtained by Faryal Saghar Roll No. 62235 of St. Joseph’s Convent High School who scored 618 marks; and Farzana Roll No. 62059 of Girls High School Lady Sandaman School remained third with 595 marks.

The Chairman, Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Quetta, Professor Fazal Bari announced the result at a new conference. He said that 26,931 candidates appeared in the SSC examination and 10,017 were declared pass. The overall result was 37.19 per cent.

He said that in the science group out of 20,107 only 7,781 candidates could pass and percentage was 39; Arts group 2,236 candidates, passed 6,824, percentage 33.

He said that it was the first time that the board had conducted 9th and 10th classes examination separately. The result of 9th class would be announced in July next.
